To do that, the General Assembly needs to adopt the House position on children's health care in budget negotiations. The Senate budget, unfortunately, did not include the very affordable provisions, supported by the House budget, which would provide access to affordable health insurance to many thousands more North Carolina children. If you haven't already done so, I hope that you will contact your State Senator and urge him or her to support the House's budget position on this issue. It makes economic sense, and more importantly, it is the right thing to do.
This week, I will meet with National League of Cities colleagues in Charlotte on Thursday; dine with the Winston-Salem Chapter of the NAACP on Friday; and talk in Chapel Hill with Orange County supporters and potential supporters on Sunday—among other events!
And as always, you're invited to check my website for more background, issue information, and contact information at www.danbesse2008.org. Thanks!
