"Water resources have become our most urgent state planning need in North Carolina," declared Dan Besse, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor.
Besse is a strong supporter of LGBT rights, and is on the record supporting anti-bullying legislation currently before the NC General Assembly. "As lieutenant governor, I will be an active working member of the state Board of Education. In that position, I will press for implementation of statewide comprehensive anti-bullying rules, specifically protecting our children from abuse based on their sexual orientation or identity. These are among the most frequent problems faced by our students. We cannot allow this violence to continue.”
The N.C. Chapter of the Sierra Club has endorsed Democrat Dan Besse for Lieutenant Governor. In announcing the endorsement, Chris Dowdle, chair of the N.C. Sierra Club political committee, said, "Dan Besse has distinguished himself as a champion of environmental stewardship."
"Besse also has a good mix of state and local government experience. For 20 years, he served on important state commissions that oversee, among other things, environmental and coastal regulation, and he's now in his 7th year on the WS City Council. He's a hard-working, access able city councilman known for his reasoned responses to issues."
"We extend our endorsement to Winston-Salem City Councilman Dan Besse, a champion of environmental conservation and corporate responsibility with a strong record of regulatory achievement. "
"The crowded Democratic field for Lieutenant Governor doesn't have a shortage of qualified candidates either, but our choice is clear. Dan Besse has been a community-minded, dedicated member of the Winston-Salem City Council for more than six years and will bring those same qualities and more to the office of lieutenant governor."
